This publication contains the “Kurobane Lecture” and the proceedings of the “Tenth International Symposium on Tubular Structures (ISTS10)” held in Madrid, Spain, from 18 to 20 September, 2003.
The ISTS10 provided a platform for the presentation and discussion of 73 lectures covering themes on applications: bridges; roofs; design aspects and case studies; static joint behaviour; fatigue; members; beam-column connections; finite element methods; concrete filled tubes; trusses and frames; cast nodes and behaviour of tubular structures under fire. This book provides an important reference work for architects, civil and mechanical engineers, designers, manufacturers and contractors involved with tubular structures.
Fundamental support has been provided by CIDECT (Comité International pour le Développement et l´Étude de la Construction Tubulaire) and the IIW Subcommision XV-E for Welded Tubular Structures of the International Institute of Welding. In this book, the latest developments have been compiled after peer review of the papers by members of these two organisations.
