Tubular Structures III
1 to 2 September 1989
Lappeenranta,
Finland
Proceedings of the “Third International
Symposium on Tubular Structures – ISTS3”
Tubular Structures are modern constructional
forms which are particularly suitable for joining by welding.
These circular hollow sections are most often found in heavy
offshore structures subjected to oscillating wave loads. The
joints between hollow sections are simple in form, but not
simple when stress distributions and design calculations are
considered. Conventional methods of strength calculations have
proven to be inapplicable to such joints, and hence new
approaches based on empirical methods and yield line theory
have had to be developed. This book contains an up-to-date
account of the research and development undertaken in this
field.
Tubular Structures consists of papers and
discussion presented at the Third International Symposium on
Tubular Structures held in Lappeenranta, Finland, 1-2
September 1989. It is divided according to the Symposium
sessions into the following sections:
1. RHS joints 2. CHS
joints 3. Beam-to-column joints 4. FEM analysis 5.
Fatigue behaviour 6. Columns 7.
Applications
This book will be of special interest to
civil, mechanical and structural engineers, metallurgists,
welding engineers and aeronautical
engineers. |
